3D laser scanning
With 3D laser scanning, it becomes possible to very accurately measure buildings and constructions from a distance. Vicoma uses a scanner which emits a laser beam for the measurement. The light that is reflected when the laser beam hits something is converted into a pixel. On the basis of these pixels a point cloud arises, which is a detailed view of the surroundings.
The 3D scanner not only operates more accurately. Through the use of 3D laser scanner, it is also possible to obtain measurements that cannot be carried out manually. Vicoma uses the technology amongst others to properly map out where there is room for additional pipework in installations or pipe bridges. The created scan is then automatically read into Autocad for further processing. It is also possible to reproduce an as-built document of installations on the basis of 3D scans.
